Featured Collectible - Vintage Glass Genie Bottle Decanters

If I were independently wealthy and could run around collecting whatever I wanted - and had a house with lots of room to display things! - I would be grabbing up a bunch of the vintage glass decanters that are often referred to as genie bottles. I've only ever found one "out in the wild", and of course I sold it. There is a good selection online though, so if you want to pick up one - or twenty - they are thankfully there for the taking!

Please indulge me while I window shop as if I had an unlimited PayPal account...

New goodness at auction on eBay this week!

In between messing with the new look for the blog, watching the entire series Freaks and Geeks on Netflix, and taking care of Will, who is having trouble with his back (sciatic nerve trouble - he is MISERABLE!) I did manage to list a few auctions. Keep your fingers crossed for us - hopefully he will start to feel better soon, and things can get back to what passes for normal around here...

There's a bit more, including some milk glass (Fenton, Westmoreland, etc.) - click on over to check out the rest!

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Thrift Shop Video - plus another new look for the blog!

I didn't want to do a post just to say I gave the blog a new look - again - so here is my new favorite song:

Yep, that's Thrift Shop by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - I'm sure most of you have seen it already, but it can't hurt to watch it again... and again... Needless to say it is in heavy rotation here in the Vintage Goodness office! It's pushing 10 MILLION views on YouTube - amazing.

I hope you all are digging my new header - magic coffee lady was cool, but when I saw this chick with her little sign, she won me right over! And the retro TV background is actually from Blogger - how cool is that?

Vintage Marimekko + my other Kentucky scores!

Our trip to Kentucky was a lot of fun - and you know I had to sneak in a bit of shopping in between seeing the sights! I posted the photos from Fort Boonesborough and Old Fort Harrod over on my other blog, if you want to check them out.

We visited an antique mall in Harrodsburg, which has what might be the greatest antique mall name ever - Rags To Riches Antique Center Flea Mall. It was pretty big, so we wandered around for quite a while. Of course I saw plenty I would have picked up if it wasn't already at retail price, but that is how it usually is in antique malls so I wasn't too disappointed.

I had a couple things in hand when we headed to the booths at the very back of the building, and I wasn't really expecting to find anything else. But then there it was, in all its 1972 super groovy glory:

I couldn't believe my eyes, or the price! I have only ever found one other Marimekko and that was way back before I even started this blog - and honestly I never really figured I would find another one. The only bummer was that in order to get it home, we had to take it off the wood frame it was on - it wouldn't fit into the trunk with our luggage! It's not that big a deal though, shipping it with the frame on would have been a nightmare - it measures a whopping 56"x36"!

It is up at auction on eBay now, by the way, just click the link under the photo if you want to check it out in more detail (or bid! hehe).

Here's the few other goodies I picked up at the mall - we hit a few Goodwills too, but all I got was a pair of Doc Martens, which of course I proceeded to leave in the trunk of my parents car...

Not a bad little haul - a pair of Burwood butterfly wall plaques, a Princess phone, and some glitter Shiny Brites. I haven't tested the phone out yet to see if it works, keep your fingers crossed for me!

New goodness on eBay this week, + a question for KY thrifters!

I have a few things to share that are on eBay at the moment, but first I want to put a question to any of you who might be in Kentucky. My parents and I are headed there next week, to Lexington and Cumberland Gap, to do some history nerd sightseeing. Of course I want to get some junking in as well - so I'm looking for recommendations on spots to hit - thrift stores, flea markets, junk shops, antique malls, etc. etc. Just leave them in the comments - and I'll be sure to post about where I stop when we get back. :)
