It's pretty interesting, being far far away from vintage kitsch, shabby chic, cottage style and other popular design trends, but borrowing from the more sparse mid-century modern decor that plays up clean (yet interesting) lines and shapes.
I poked around to see what was out there being targeted toward this emerging trend, I found quite a bit - including some things that had me raising my eyebrows at the prices! Who knows, maybe the prices are right in line with what people who are cultivating this look are willing to pay?
The items I found tend to fall into one of just a few categories - lighting, storage, office supplies, and seating. Here's a few good examples:
Lighting
Storage
Office Supplies
Seating
Industrial Age Royal Metal Co. Brown Side Chair
As you can see there is a lot of great stuff out there! I'm still working on part 2 of this post, trying to find other not so obvious ways to inject a bit of Industrial Chic into your decor - home accessories, kitchenware, etc. - hopefully I'll have it ready to go in a day or two, stay tuned!

loved this article! your blog inspired me!
Wow, that water meter cover is definitely right in line, great find!
How fun! I've always been drawn to those things, but never decorated with it. I'm thinking I can really get into the storage items, though. And wondering why in the world I've passed up all those slide storage things through the years!
I know Wanda, it is such a different style from what the market has been saturated with the last several years - even though it is comprised of items, like the slide storage cases, that we all see out junking! My eyes will be open for "industrial chic" in 2010 for sure...
