I know this isn't a political blog...

... but I feel the need to interrupt your regularly scheduled vintage love fest with this:

Will and I will be voting for Barack Obama on Tuesday - here's hoping you will too! :)

Vintage dolls up for adoption!

Vintage Bunny Costume Pose Doll

This week on eBay, Vintage Goodness is all about the dolls - in fact, I have been feeling very much like I am running my very own vintage doll adoption center! I've had a blast getting them listed, so I just had to come over and show you all a few...

You might remember these beauties from my Hocking Hills post:

Bradley Southern Belle Doll

Brechner Boudoir Doll

Last weekend I stumbled across a nice collection of vintage Joan Walsh Anglund Pocket Dolls - it was love at first sight! Here is a bit about Ms. Anglund that I found on the Loganberry Books website:

"Joan Walsh Anglund became successful with her first book, A Friend Is Someone Who Likes You, in 1958. She's been making books featuring these same round-faced mouthless characters ever since, and her popularity continues to grow. There's something ineffably sweet about her creations, which are based in large part on people and places in her own life-- particularly on her children Joy and Todd."

Apparently her characters have spawned an entire line of products - dolls, figurines, etc. etc.

Here are just a few of her dolls that I have up at auction right now:

Girl With Flower - Joan Walsh Anglund Pocket Doll - 1977

Asian Girl Joan Walsh Anglund Pocket Doll - 1981

Yellow Dress Girl Joan Walsh Anglund Pocket Doll - 1977

I was lucky enough to find a few of her books on the same day I found the dolls, but at a different sale, along with a vintage basket purse that looks to be handpainted with an Anglund character design on its lid. Isn't it funny how that happens?

This next guy is something I wouldn't normally be drawn to - a clown doll. But for some reason I really like the style of this one!

Here's another Bradley doll named Ginger, who still has her original tag!

The last one I have to share (but not the last doll I have up, click here to see them all!) is the amazing Bride doll I found, her dress is made of safety pins, beads and lace - really unique!

Before I go, I had also better show you a couple of the amazing Schmid Bros. ceramic bells that I listed this week... I believe I found a complete collection of their International Girls series, there are well over a dozen different countries represented, and they are really pretty!

Look what I got for a dollar!

I went to a small estate sale last weekend, at first glance I thought I would be leaving empty handed - until I saw this awesome pole lamp! It has amber glass globes and wood accents and works perfectly! You can actually turn it on three ways - all three lit, the bottom one only lit, or the top two only lit.

Did I mention it was a dollar?

Here is the whole thing, ceiling to floor - excuse my messy office:

It has since found a new home in our living room upstairs, Will actually rearranged up there to make a little corner nook with a chair, a little bookshelf/table, and the lamp - which he keeps calling HIS lamp, for some reason. He's obviously confused. ;)

Musical Interlude - Jim Bianco - Yes, again....

You may remember my last musical interlude post of a Jim Bianco video... Well, I am still crushin on him pretty hard. Much to my delight, I got a newsletter today letting us fans know that he is performing on the Late Late Late Late (ok, one too many Lates there, maybe) Show with Craig Ferguson Tuesday night. His song "I Got A Thing For You" is the one he will be performing, and it's a good one! Here's the video, be warned - it's a little on the racy side! ;)

I found some vintage roller skates - and I'm still in one piece!

A couple of weeks ago I found a box full of vintage roller skates at a sale, and I just had to bring them home! Only 2 pairs were worth saving, unfortunately...

I lived on my skates when I was a kid - either skating at the neighborhood roller rink (remember couples skate?), around my grandparents' basement, or up the street from their house for ice cream... It's been YEARS since I put on a pair though, and I probably wouldn't have even tried these awesome Roller Derby skates on, but I needed to determine the size.

I pulled them on and, of course, they fit like a glove. Why is it always like that? I was all ready to list them, and the next thing you know Will is pulling me down the hill of our driveway so I could skate around the cul-de-sac. It took me a few minutes to get the feel of them, but eventually I felt comfortable enough to head up the street and try to pick up some speed.

On my way back I saw Will coming out the door with his old skateboard in his hands. The race was on - I was woefully disadvantaged of course, he did circles around me... But it was so much fun! And neither of us fell and hurt ourselves, which is a bonus.

So, the skates are still here, not listed. I think I will put them on a few more times before I decide if I want to list them or not... The other pair I saved is up for auction now though (they are too small for me!):

They are 1970's Nash Cruisers tennis shoe style skates - a Women's size 6, in case you are interested. Here's a helpful link if you need to find a roller rink near you. ;)

New video from AuctionWally & WorthPoint!

In a few days Walt is going to be doing a fun country auction out near where he lives, and WorthPoint stopped by to make a short video for the event!
