New goodness at auction on eBay this week!

This post will be a bit short, because one group of items that I listed will be getting their own separate post tomorrow (click here if you want a sneak peek!). There is Pinterest board creating involved and everything! In the meantime, here's the rest of the stuff I managed to get up:

That's all the new stuff, I also went ahead and listed a few things I've had on Etsy at auction, to see if I could get any bites on them there:

New Goodness on Etsy - Vintage Botanical Prints!

I scored a great set of botanical prints that I listed individually in my Etsy shop yesterday - they are from the Scott Company circa 1978, so of course they all feature different types of grasses. What I really love about these is that illustrations are on a black background - makes them a little bit different from most botanical prints, and of course once they are hung they will really pop! Click on over if you want to check them all out...

New goodness on eBay and Etsy this week!

I'm having real trouble lately with time slipping away from me without me even realizing it. Somehow I feel like I have been busy all day, but when the day is over, the amount I've accomplished is minimal. SO frustrating! I don't know how to fix it, if anyone has any ideas please leave them in the comments - I need all the help I can get!

I've heard that as you get older, time "speeds up" - something about today being a smaller percentage of your total life span than yesterday was, etc. It does seem to be true at least for me... It seems like a day goes by in the blink of an eye!

Anyway, I did get some stuff listed, but not nearly as much as I wanted to - hence my starting this post with a bit of whining. ;) First up are the auctions I listed, then a couple of items I listed straight to Etsy...

And a couple new Etsy shop listings:

Picking Medina - A Thrifting Road Trip!

Yesterday I drove about an 1 hour, 45 minutes away up to Medina, Ohio. I dropped off the Coronel to the winning bidder, and then hit up a few thrift stores and antique malls. Since I've been lax about doing haul posts lately, I figured this was definitely the time to do one! I had a great time and found a few cool things.

The first place I went, where I met my buyer actually, was the Goodwill. It was in by far the coolest building I've ever seen a thrift store in:

I was driving along thinking I would have to hunt it down in a strip mall, then I saw the giant silo with Goodwill written on it, easy peasy!

After that I went to Brother's Antique Mall, Medina Depot Antiques, This & That Antiques, and the Hospice of Medina County Life's Treasures Thrift Shop. Of course I forgot to take photos of all of those places, because I was too busy shopping!

Here's the haul:

A set of gold leaf Libbey glasses new in box, a metal green and yellow flower canister set, a white macrame purse with plastic circle handle, a wooden hand (ring holder, maybe?), and a vintage camera wallet purse.

A huge lot of vintage plastic Solo cups, a black metal lunchbox, some Ekco iced tea spoons, Adidas shoes, and He-Man sheets.

Of course I saw a lot of stuff I would have liked to buy, but had to leave behind because it was too expensive (antique malls tend to have retail prices, of course!) but overall I was happy with what I was able to scoop up. And it is always fun to check out a different town's junk! ;)

The super score of 2013? Vintage Raul Coronel wall art at auction on eBay now!

Sometimes in this business you just get lucky. I could say it was my vast knowledge of mid century modern collectibles that prompted me to pick this item up, but in reality, I just thought it was cool and so I bought it to hang on my wall. I figured since it was so big and heavy, the cost of shipping it would be too high and it wouldn't be worth listing online. In my defense, I DID recognize it as something super cool - just not as something super valuable. That counts for something, right? ;)

When I got it home I decided to research the signature on it - Coronel. It wasn't long before I realized that it was definitely worth listing, and the potential selling price on it trumped any desire I had to keep it for myself! Click the link above to see the current high bid - the auction ends on Sunday, I'm expecting most of the bidding activity to be happening then, towards the end. That's how it usually goes anyway...

If you want to see the prices some sellers are asking for Coronel pieces, head over to 1st Dibs. Yowza. I don't know if my piece will go as high as all that, but if it goes even half as high I will be extremely happy! :)

The most helpful spot I found information about the designer / artist, Raul Coronel, was a thread over on the 20th Century Forum. Those folks over there know their stuff, and they were super helpful when I posted there, looking for more information on my find. From the info in their posts there I'm estimating my piece to be from the 1950s or 1960s, and there is a chance that it is one of a kind, rather than one that they produced multiples of - I haven't been able to find another one just like it anywhere online. Believe me, I've combed through Google a few times looking for it!

Super scores don't come around every day, but man it sure is fun when they do turn up! :)
