James Lileks has my dream job.

Well, one of my dream jobs. He collects old ephemera (books, magazines, postcards, matchbooks, advertisements, etc.), dissects them, and makes fun of their vintage quirkiness. It's easy to get lost on his sites for hours, especially on the Institute of Official Cheer, but everything is well worth the time it takes to dig through it all. And not only are his sites stuffed full, he has taken it a step farther and written books! I know, like I said, dream job...

Here is just one of the many that made me laugh out loud:

"The Panic Room, c. 1971. Honey, there’s a burglar in the house! Quick, downstairs! I’ll get the gun – you type a letter to the police, then sew up a sack I can put him in."
