Dr. Marten Motherload

Oh, did the thrift gods ever smile upon me today! Just look:

Ok, let me start at the beginning. My friend Corey called this afternoon, and said its 50 Cent Monday at Village Thrift, I am coming to pick you up. How could I refuse? I wasn't too excited, having just been in there for the Virtual Thriftathon and not finding too much of interest. But, it is fun to try to find cool things with the 50 cent color tag, so off I went.

One of my favorite things to thrift are Docs. They are my favorite shoes ever (yes, I was a Lollapalooza freak chick back in the day), they can last for decades if you take care of them, and they are expensive as hell to buy new. So, when I find a pair in decent shape in my size, I snatch them up.

I have only been able to find brown ones in the past for some reason (I think I have 3 or 4 pairs in my closet, all acquired for under $5), so I have been on the lookout for a black pair. Today my prayers were answered, in the form of two pairs of shoes (one with an orange 50 cent tag!) and one pair of boots - yes BOOTS! - all in black.

Grand total for all three - $16.50. Do it with me now... *happy dance*

I got a few other things, but those will have to wait for another post...

That's a lot of shoe for your $16.50! I wish we had Village Thrifts around here-- I've heard such good things.

That's so awesome! I had a thrift store I would go to and find Doc's but they closed down this summer :( I even found some doc boots covered in red, white, and blue british sketches!

I used to LOVE my Docs in jr. high & high school... I still have three pairs back at my parents' house. I feel like we should bring them back in fashion. :)

I knew some of you would appreciate my score even though it isn't technically a "vintage" one! I was so excited, I mean how lucky to find three pairs in my size?

I'm debating about trying to sell the boots now, I probably won't wear them very often and I might be able to at least make what I paid for all three... I don't know, they are too cool! We'll see when bill time comes I guess... ;)
