I was doing drive-bys at a community yard sale last weekend (you know you all do this too, don't try to lie - you can't stop at every crappy sale, there's no time, man!), and saw this awesome lighted mirror with shelves leaning up against a tree. Needless to say I zipped into the nearest empty parking spot and headed over to check it out. As I was looking it over, the owner shouted out, you can have it for $3.00! I about fell over. I asked if the lights worked and she said she thought so but we could test it out, which we did - and they all work!
So, I loaded into the back seat of my car - it barely fit - and brought it on home with the intentions of selling it. I knew Will wouldn't be happy about the idea of packaging it, and I was right. But still, I figured it would be worth listing. Then I looked at it all weekend, sitting in my office in all of its retro glory - and, I caved - I decided to keep it.
Now, it isn't perfect - no big chips or cracks or anything, but all around the frame is what looks like rusty glue residue. I have no idea if it will come off or not, or if I will even really try - I have half a mind to just paint it... Also, while the butterfly panels are cute, I'm thinking I could also replace them with something else - just like
Sue over at VRS did with her too froo-froo mirror. And since I am also wanting to give
my $20 dresser a makeover eventually, I'm thinking I could deck them out as a set, taking the mirror off the dresser and hanging this new one above it. I've been
saving ideas over on Pinterest for a while now, maybe I will actually get something done before winter? Maybe? ;)
And if you will allow me to veer completely off topic, I also snapped some photos of my little old man when we were outside today - this is our Shadow, who is 13 years old. He isn't as spry as he used to be, but he's hanging in there, hopefully for a good long while yet!
